Red Balloon Day, Logan's Day

Over the past ten weeks we have so many happy sad moments as we remember our very special Logan. Today was Asthma Awareness Day, and it seemed like just the right day to unveil Logan's rock and the fabulous picture of the children engaged in street art for Logan. The lovely balloon fairies blew up the balloons ... and they filled the back office. Nearly everyone wore red. And the day was perfect, not a cloud in the sky. The bar-b-que fed the wonderful people gathered. Then it was time to unveil the rock. Three of the most important people in Logan's life were entrusted with the responsibility ... his best friend Caden, his big sister Sophie and his girlfriend Lauren. It was then on to the unveiling of the picture of the children and their street art.
Logan's passing has given us such grief, but it also has made us realise what a wonderful community we belong to. Logan, you will always have a special place in our hearts ... and now in our sandpit too.

  1. You guys are just awesome. Caden was so proud to help the girls unveil the rock, what a special moment to remember. Caden says he is going to play on the rock everyday because it is a really special rock.

To the teachers and helpers (and balloon fairies!), you made it such a special day xxx

  2. Wasn't it just the most perfect day. I got to sit on and then take the cover off the rock, the one i can speak to Logan on. I do wonder how it got there though as it is awefully big!!

  3. What a day! It was amazing, the weather, the balloons, everyone in red and the rock. Logan would have been so pleased that Caden, Sophie and Lauren had that very special job to do. It is so nice to know that there will always be little memento of Logan in the sandpit. The idea of a rock is perfect. Thank you everyone, our beautiful boy will be looking down with a huge Logan smile on his beautiful face. XXXXX

Wednesday was an awesome day! I was so impressed with all of the children wearing red and the unveiling of the rock was pretty special. There were many damp eyes around that sandpit!
I had enormous trouble getting the red face paint hearts off of Livvy's face as she announced that she couldn't wash them off because they were her "Logan hearts."
Thank you Bronwyn and the team for such a neat day!

  6. I found it quite hard to be not with you all on Logan's rock day but I was thinking of you all in Los Angeles. I was actually at Disneyland on that day so I purchased a Mickey Mouse balloon - which I know Logan would have loved, and set it free for Logan. It was quite funny because when I let it go there was a tree close by and the balloon got stuck in the tree, my daughter Christy said "perhaps Logan wants the balloon to stay at Disneyland Mum" but the breeze unhooked it from the tree and away it went, up, up, up into the sky.
Miss you lots Logan and I can't wait to see your rock in the sandpit at kindergarten.

  7. We share the same sentiments as above. The red was very impressive - - - our balloons are still flitting around the house, here and there... Many thanks to all those that put such a great effort into making a great day.

  10. What a wonderful community you have. It was such a privelege to be part of this very special occasion. My own sister passed away many years ago, of an asthma attack. Thoughts of her were with me in such a lovely way that day. Many thanks to Logan, his whanau and all the staff, children and families of Botany Downs Kindergarten for including me in the rich and abundant life experiences of your kindy community.
