Bree ... and her imagination

We are often blown away by Bree and her creations ... and this instance was a case to point. Bree appeared wearing a skirt she had made out of green paper. Not only had she cut the strips but she had created a waistband to make the skirt fit from straws ... and it fitted perfectly. Ka pai Bree.

Saying farewell to Lara

Lara has been with us for the past few years, wearing so many different hats - an editor and helper during our three years of centre of Innovation research, education support worker and filling in for karen (her in the office) when she has been off galavanting overseas. Thanks for everything you have done Lara. We wish you all the best for your teacher training.

Jessie and Benjamin give us a lesson in skating

Over the past few weeks Jessie and Benjamin have been telling us about their exploits at ice skating, showing us their moves and turns. So, with a few minutes to spare we popped down to the rink to see their lesson in progress. It was hard to believe that this was just their seventh lesson. What confidence. I wonder what the other children will think of this ...

A little bit of magic

In response to Jack's interest in magic Margaret's husband came in to share a little of his magic with the children ... with Jack as his helper. Thanks for coming in Riccardo.

The interest in puppets continues

Having invested time in making their puppets it was now show time. Who would start the show, that was the question. Perhaps we could all do our own show. It was so exciting to be able to give the puppets a voice that it was hard to think about those sort of minor details. This provoked some discussion at group time. We had a look on Youtube and discovered some examples of puppet stories that highlighted the role of the puppeteers. That will give us focus as we move forward in puppeteering.

The puppeteers

Over the past weeks there has been an intense interest in puppet making, with children making puppets with everything they can find.

We love to see our friends from Norway

Each year we host a group of teachers from Norway, such a great way to learn about early childhood education in other parts of the world. I wonder what hey will take away from New Zealand ...

What can that noise be?

That was the question we asked. There was a rush to have a look through the window. We decided we would just have to go out the back door for a better look ...

One year on

Logan, we think of you so very often ... and one year down the track we wondered how we might go about remembering your day. We decided we just had to do the street art again. It was such a comfort to us the first time. When benjamin arrived with his bubble machine it made it all a perfect way to tell you we love and think of you. What a year it has been! However, there have been inspirational hightlights. Team Logan and the Auckland Marathon would have to be one. Check out Nerissa's poetry and the thoughts of those involved on Logan's blog. May you continue to be our inspiration. Here is our tribute to you.
