Projects with wood continued
Well, Tuesday is a Steve day ... and that is exciting.
Today the project was to complete Katie, the wooden rustic sculpture. Step one was to check out Katie, revisit our thoughts from last week and check out just what else Katie might need. As quick as a flash the children identified that Katie needed two legs the same length, arms and hair. It was also time to revisit the tools that would be needed. Would it be an axe? Would it be a bow saw? It was time to put our thought into actions. We are supposed to be focused on the process and rather than the outcome but it is hard not to fall in love with Katie, the rock chick.
Jessica thought that she just had to have a guitar to complete the look.
Where are we going to go from here? Will it be with one of the projects from our original brainstorming or will it be with a new project. Lets hear your ideas.

My mum said she can have a knitted hat that we don't use any more to keep her warm.
ReplyDeleteBut where will she live?
Steve, could we make a kid size table and chairs and have a tea party with Katie?

Wow, Katie's really gorgeous!! I'm sure you'll all have lots of fun with her!
ReplyDeleteMadison - I think your idea about a table and chairs is a great one.
Love Kerry

Katie is beautiful. I saw her sitting on a chair outside with Realene this morning. Madison i think your idea about the table and chair set is fantastic. When i saw Katie on the chair i thought she would look more at home on a chld size chair. You're right a rustic one would be even better. Great thinking Madison,i wonder what colour her hat will be. I hope you bring it in soon as it is getting pretty chilly now...
ReplyDeleteDear Katie, you rock!
ReplyDeleteI imagine that when you are standing there quietly, you are actually listening. That is a lovely thing, to truly listen. I hope that some of the BDK children show you their skills in music, they like rock music too you know. Some of them tell really good stories, others are great at making things and did you know that there are some like to paint and draw things. Get them to show you what they are doing; you’ll love it, they are awesome!
Perhaps we could have tea together next week. I’ll ask some of the children to make a little table and chairs and maybe some others might even prepare us a treat (I love cake with my tea!). Don’t worry if you are busy being a rock chick I know you have to practice but it would be so cool to hear about your first week at kindy!
What a busy week at kindergarten for Katie. So busy that she lost some of her hair! The highlight of the week had to be meeting the Queen.

ReplyDeleteI really like Steve and his tools and think Katie is so cool. I think it would be a good idea for us to make Katie a "real" guitar out of wood instead of her having a pretend cardboard one.
