A rescreening of Ryan's Ghost Buster movie

Sadly Friday was Ryan's last day at kindergarten ... so we just had to rescreen his much loved Ghost buster movie. With so many of our children featuring in the movie it was exciting viewing for all. What a fabulous contribution this was to our kindergarten programme. Thanks Ryan.

The Olivias

There are often trends in names at kindergarten. At the moment we have a three Olivias in our morning session (and four Charlotte's). Far from being concerned, the children seem to thrive on the connection. It is just that they are always known by both their names ... as though that was their first name. Our group of Olivias are great buddies and enjoy being together ... but not for much longer as Olivia(in the middle) is leaving us to go and live in Melbourne. as we were discussing the implications of this Olivia (the one that is moving) suggested that we could skype. What a great suggestion for keeping in touch. We use skype in a number of instances at kindergarten, so we are excited about this possibility.

We have discovered ooVoo

ooVoo is a free download that allows our children to send a video message via the email. In this ooVoo Aimee is telling her mother what she has made at kindergarten.

Practicing our waiata for our own DVD

Our the past few days the children have been working on their waiata in anticipation of recording their first DVD. Well rehearsals are over, the filming is in the can and the editing is completed. Next week the shop will be built and the shop signage prepared. Once done the children will open the shop to sell their DVD to family and friends. We can't wait.

Sharing term break home activities

At the end of term four 2009 we gave out personalised bags for the children to collect momentos from their family adventures. What exciting bags of goodies the children had to share. In this instance Natasha and Jemma are sharing their news on the big screen, telling the children all about the items that were in their bags (and subsequently photographed).

The interest in collecting cicada skins continues.  Nathan arrived at kindergarten with a container of skins to share for news at group time.  There was such a flurry of interest that we just had to have a look at them up close ... and what better way to do that than with the digital microscope.  Elsa decided that she was in charge, repositioning the skins for a better look.  What a fascinating process.  They all decided that they were glad that they didnʻt shed their skin.

Having just purchased a tablet for the children to draw on and watch on the big screen we decided it was time to experiment. we were totally impressed when the afternoon children (our younger children) were able to use it with ease. What clever children we have.
